Join Us for the Inaugural Brotherhood Summit

The North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) is partnering with the Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values (AFLV) at their AFLV West conference to host a Brotherhood Summit aimed at shedding light on the mental health and wellness challenges facing college men — and how brotherhood can help.

Fraternities foster positive mental health and serve as a success accelerator for students. Yet we also know college men, including fraternity men, still struggle with loneliness, addiction and stress. More than ever, young men need opportunities for connection, support and belonging. Simply put: young men need brotherhood.

Brotherhood is the cornerstone of the fraternity experience. Brothers feel comfortable having tough conversations and learning from each other in large part due to their mutual care and obligation to one another. Fraternity is well positioned to empower students to create a strong support system of brotherhood.

The first of its kind, the Brotherhood Summit will offer space for fraternity men representing various organizations to learn from experts and connect with peers.

The Brotherhood Summit is funded by the Elevating Fraternities Campaign, in large part due to a generous gift from Phi Delta Theta, without which this program would not be possible.

Keynote Speaker

Richard Reeves

Richard Reeves is the founding president of the American Institute for Boys and Men (AIBM), which he launched in 2023 to address the challenges facing boys and men through evidence-based research.

His 2022 book, Of Boys and Men: Why the Modern Male Is Struggling, Why It Matters, and What to Do About It, was described as a “landmark” in The New York Times and named a book of the year by both The Economist and The New Yorker. He is a nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings
Institution in Washington, D.C., where he previously directed the Future of the Middle-Class Initiative and the Center on Children and Families.

His current research priorities include the impact and importance of fatherhood and gender gaps in education.
